FC Badalona Womens academy side takes the lead in the playoff after defeating Zaragoza CFF (1-2)

FC Badalona Women’s reserve side earned a crucial 1-2 victory over Zaragoza CFF last Saturday in the first leg of the promotion playoff to Primera Federación Iberdrola, taking an important advantage ahead of the decisive return leg.

Facing one of the strongest teams in the division, the young Badalona squad arrived in Zaragoza fully aware of the challenge ahead — and responded with maturity, determination and composure from the opening whistle.

The visitors made an impressive start, showing intensity and confidence on the ball while controlling large spells of the first half. Their strong opening was rewarded with the first goal of the afternoon, allowing them to head into halftime with a deserved lead.

Zaragoza CFF responded after the break and capitalised on a brief spell of uncertainty from the visitors to level the score at 1-1.

But Badalona’s reaction was immediate.

Showing character beyond their years, the young side bounced back quickly and restored their lead just five minutes later with what proved to be the winning goal.

The match also featured strong support from the travelling Escapulada fans, who made the trip to back the team and created a home-like atmosphere during one of the most important fixtures of the season.

With the advantage secured, FC Badalona Women now shift their focus to the second leg, which will take place this Sunday at 11:00 AM at CEM Besòs-Trajana, where they will aim to finish the job and keep their promotion dream alive.
