Ona Stands Up to the Leader in the First Half

Too Big a Defeat Against FC Barcelona
The Estadi Municipal Palamós Costa-Brava hosted one of the most important women’s football matches ever played in Girona. FC Badalona Women welcomed FC Barcelona, the reigning league champions, European runners-up, and one of the top teams globally. The match drew great attention, with over 3,000 spectators attending in person.
Barcelona took the lead early, with their top scorer Ewa Pajor finding the net in the 5th minute. Despite the early setback, Badalona fought back, and Lorena equalized after 15 minutes. The first half remained balanced, with Barça controlling possession and Badalona threatening on counterattacks. Shortly before halftime, Claudia Pina scored a brilliant goal to put Barcelona ahead 1-2.

In the second half, the physical demand and the opponents’ quality widened the score to a final 1-5 by the 103rd minute. Despite the heavy defeat, Marc Ballester’s team left the pitch knowing they had put up strong resistance for much of the match against the league leaders and clear title favorites.
