VICTORY AT THE LEGENDARY ESTADIO DE LAS GAUNAS

Lice, Banini, and Irina on the scoresheet

FC Badalona Women visited one of the historic stadiums of Spanish football, known from when the Navarre men’s team played in the top division. And we couldn’t have left with better memories after beating DUX 3-2 in a match that was modest in quality but very exciting, with all five goals, the last one for the home team in the final moments.

The home team could have taken the lead in the first minute, but surprisingly the player failed to finish in front of goal. The poor condition of the pitch, especially in the penalty areas, likely played a role. DUX, who base their game on physical strength, had a couple more chances, but it was Badalona who opened the scoring just before halftime with a goal from Lice Chamorro.

In the second half, the quality of play didn’t improve much, but our players’ effectiveness did, as they extended the lead thanks to a beautiful goal from Estefanía Banini with a powerful shot from outside the area. Everything seemed under control until DUX scored with a perfect header to make it 2-1, fueled by their fans, getting back into the match.

At this crucial moment, Marc Ballester’s team extended the lead again with a 3-1 goal by Irina, finishing off an excellent pass from Paula Sánchez. As often happens, the match extended with significant added time, which allowed DUX to score the final 3-2 goal in the last minute.

It was Badalona Women’s seventh victory, moving up to eighth place with 28 points, a total they hadn’t reached in Liga F until now.
